After testing with Michael NA7Q I am pleased to announce that his APRS SMS gateway<\/a> <\/strong>is now operational for VK Amateurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sending Messages from APRS to SMS<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

To send a message from APRS to SMS using the following format: @<number> <message><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The @ symbol is followed by the 12 digit destination <number> of the SMS<\/strong>. The words following the destination will be the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To: SMS @61483954895 No cell coverage. Get me on the radio!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the message is delivered to the SMS user it will appear as follows: @NA7Q-3 No cell coverage here. Get me on the radio!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sending from SMS to APRS<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

To send a message from SMS to APRS, your message to the gateway number should be in the following format: @<callsign> <message><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The @ symbol is followed by the destination <callsign> of the APRS user. The words following the destination will be the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To: 8663524096 @NA7Q-3 Did you forget your cellphone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the message is delivered to the APRS user the message will appear as follows: @61483954895 Did you forget your cellphone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a message has been sent to that APRS user, all messages without the callsign prefix will be routed to them unless a message is sent or received from a different callsign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMS to APRS Replies<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

SMS users who reply back to APRS users will still receive their messages if not prefaced with @<callsign><\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there is no guarantee they will receive it if the system has been updated or restarted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the system has been updated or restarted since the last APRS to SMS message, the “last call” log is erased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it is encouraged that SMS users preface the message with the destination user!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To: 61483954895 Did you forget your cellphone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the message is delivered to the APRS user the message will appear as follows: @61483954895 Did you forget your cellphone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alias Management<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The alias management system uses 12 digits in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add New Alias #alias #add Simon 61424220549<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remove Alias #alias #remove Simon 61424220549<\/p>\n\n\n\n
