Even before receiving the pair of TD-H3 I purchased from TIDRADIO<\/a><\/strong> I exchanged a couple of emails with support staff at TIDRADIO. I found them to reply quickly and be very responsive to my enquiries. Unlike other brands TIDRADIO are putting a lot of time and effort into their products, listening to user feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First thing I noticed unpacking the radios, was the supply of Australian USB power bricks and good quality! Previous overseas purchases typically come with a US or other crappy brick that is unusable here in Australia. I did not specifically ask for these bricks, TIDRADIO obviously saw that they were shipping to Australia and did that of their own accord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During purchase I wanted a twin pack of black TD-H3 radios but they were out of stock at the time. My research indicated that the GMRS radios were identical so I took the gamble of purchasing in purchasing the GMRS twin pack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the first thing to do was reconfigure the radios to allow them to work on the HAM bands. This is done by holding PTT and * button down when turning on the radio. This process wipes any memory channels out of the radio, so save any channels you may have before doing this but was not a requirement for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next step was to update to the current version firmware, again a straight forward procedure using TD-H3_IAP software direct from TIDRADIO (walkietalkiesoftware.com)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally programming the radios to my requirement, there are many ways available to do this but I chose to use CHIRP<\/a><\/strong> as I was able to use a file from another a Quansheng radio I had programmed previously. There are many other options available for programming the TD-H3 radios but this option quickly got me on the air.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
